se US, n to IN, IL, & OH

A vigorous, woody, tendril-climbing vine. Handsome dark green foliage and showy orange, trumpet shaped flowers make this native vine a good choice for covering a fence, trellis, or wall. Will cling to wood, concrete, or brick walls. Evergreen in mild areas, semi-evergreen in colder areas. Foliage develops a reddish purple cast in cool weather. Will tolerate heavy shade, but flowers best in full sun. Prefers a moist, well drained soil, but will also grow in wet soil. Can be used as a ground cover. This selection is from a cold location, and has shown good cold hardiness.
