A fast-growing vine with orange-scarlet, trumpet-shaped flowers to 2" across and 3" long, borne over a long period in summer. Climbs by aerial rootlets; will cling to tree trunks or rough walls. Tolerant of polluted air. Hummingbirds are regular visitors to the flowers. Vigorous, needs plenty of space or regular pruning.
