wild bleeding-heart

native, fragrant, ground cover, sun - shade
e N Amer

Resembles the common bleeding-heart, but is not as tall and has more finely cut, fern-like leaves. Bears clusters of deep pink, 3/4" long flowers (with the fragrance of candy) over a long period in summer. Prefers light soil. At home around rocks or ledges, and tolerant of partial shade. Dislikes hot, dry locations. Spreads slowly to from a solid colony. Among the best of the native ground covers.
