Carolina silverbell tree

native, sun - part shade
se US

This small, rounded tree produces masses of white, bell-shaped flowers in spring. Carolina silverbell's pleasing form and floral display, and its excellent resistance to pests and diseases, make it a good choice as a landscape specimen. In its native habitat, Carolina silverbell often grows as a forest understory tree along mountain streams in the Southeast. Prefers a well-drained, somewhat acidic soil with good organic content. A good companion for rhododendrons, azaleas, and other heath family plants, which have similar soil preferences.
