Similar to the species form, described above, but grows in a more compact, restrained manner. Bears clear yellow, fragrant, tubular flowers through the summer and into the fall. The plentiful, bright red berries, which are sought after by birds, provide a colorful complement to the flowers. This selection is notably resistant to powdery mildew. Named for a botanist of colonial Virginia.
