An erect, clump-forming perennial with loose, nodding clusters of large phlox-like, 1-2” blue flowers which bloom in early spring. Flower buds are pink and flowers emerge with a pinkish cast before turning blue. The flower cluster is multicolored with bright pink and true blue occurring together. A spring ephemeral, foliage dies to the ground by mid-summer as the plant goes dormant. Prefers moist, well-drained soil and mildly acid soil.
