arrow-arum; tuckahoe
 |
native, wildlife, dry - moist, sun - shade
e and c US
The bright green leaves of this tropical-looking wetland perennial are large and arrow-shaped. The unusual green flowers are similar to those of Jack-in-the-pulpit. The seed pods which follow add to arrow arum's ornamental interest, and the seeds are of some value as food for ducks and other waterfowl. Grows naturally in wet soil or shallow water to about 12" deep; will grow in ordinary moist soil as long as it does not dry out.
