Japan

A large-leaved (to 13" long by 11/2" wide) bamboo. Does not spread as rapidly as some bamboos, but can be quite aggressive in warm climates. Has a distinctly running-clumping growth habit, producing clusters of culms separated from other clusters by areas with few or no culms. Prefers partial shade, at least in warm climates. One of the best bamboos for growing in containers.
