Shares traits with its much larger cousin amaryllis, narrow, grasslike foliage thrusts up delightful frac12" bright yellow flower with six pointed petals which have an extended blossoming period from spring through summer. Hairy, crinkly leaves give the plant a silvery look. Grows in meadows and open woods in mountainous areas. Not commonly grown in gardens.
