'Alphonse Karr' hedge bamboo

container, hedge - screen, sun - part shade
China

This clumping bamboo bears numerous branches at each node (joint), giving a dense but graceful appearance. A good hedge plant. The culms are yellow, with narrow green stripes, and often overlaid with pink. Dark green upper leaf surfaces, and waxy, bluish lower surfaces add to the ornamental appeal of this selection. Among the most attractive of bamboos, and one of the best for growing in containers.
