A relatively cold-hardy, tuberous rooted species. A profusion of pink blooms adorn its upright stems throughout the growing season. Large leaves with reddish veins and red undersides add ornamental interest. Forms bulblets in the leaf axils which can be used to start new plants. Can be wintered outdoors, with protection, as far north as zone 5.
