This low-growing evergreen perennial is an excellent ground cover that forms a spreading mat of aromatic foliage with a with a mildly grassy appearance. Bright green, ferny foliage emits a robust and very pleasant fruity scent when bruised. Daisy-like flowers buttons bloom throughout the summer and into early fall. Flower heads may be dried to make chamomile tea, a sleep aid as well as uses in many medicinal remedies. Has been used as an insect repellant, to make a yellow dye and as a golden hair wash. Can be used between stepping stones. Prefers dry, sandy soil and can grow in very alkaline soil. Grows vigorously and can become persistent, but is not fully evergreen in colder climates. Deer resistant.
