Gelsemium

Slender, wiry stems with narrow, shining, dark green, evergreen leaves. Brightens the landscape with a profusion of very fragrant, yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers in spring. Flowering may continue intermittently through the summer and fall. Best in moist, rich, well-drained soil in full sun, but is very adaptable. Can be used in a variety of ways: as a ground cover; as a covering for trellises, porches, or other structures; or may be allowed to climb into trees. Sometimes grown as a greenhouse plant. Hardier than Gelsemium sempervirens. Note: All parts of the plant are poisonous if eaten.
