Neat in appearance, strongly upright, much branched, with long slender leaves. The small yellow flowers appear throughout the summer. In autumn the foliage drops, leaving the stems laden with the seed capsules which much resemble little boxes. These persist through the winter. An appealing addition to dried arrangements. Can re-seed freely in bare soil. Will grow in wet locations, but grows well under drier conditions, also.
