The upright, bushy plants bear clusters of small, white or pale lavender flowers in summer. Entire plant is covered with soft, grayish-white down. Attractive to cats, and often cultivated for that reason. The seeds provide food for goldfinches, which often visit the plants in late summer and early fall.
