Mountain mint. About 20 species of North American perennial herbs. Of the species listed here, all are intensely mint-scented when crushed. All are tolerant of dry soil, and spread by rhizomes. They bear clusters of small white or bluish flowers in summer or fall. Good honey plants. They also appear to be excellent food sources for beneficial insects; good plants to grow in or near fruit orchards. The plants are sometimes used in dried arrangements.
